Summary

Work independently or under little supervision and lead Supply Chain activities for assigned product portfolio to optimize inventory, minimize cost, and set and achieve customer service goals.

This includes forecasting, capacity planning, execution oversight, and monitoring and reporting in support of the European Medical Devices Regulation (MDR) requirements.

Provide input for SIOP process for a given business segment in order to align market and financial requirements with manufacturing capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • This role will ensure prompt and proper movement of shipments, responding to customer inquiries and referring clients to the proper channels. (15%)
  • Assess and resolve issues relating to transportation, customer problems, import and export, and logistics systems. (10%)
  • Maintain detailed and accurate logistics data for daily, weekly, and quarterly reports including usage metrics, customer issues and resolutions, training records, work logs, and schedule documentation. (15%)
  • Communicate with various other departments as needed to create comprehensive schedules for business processes such as sales appointments, shipping, and accounting tasks .(10%)
  • Leads meetings with key departments such as, Customer Service and master planning team to develop an accurate and timely supply plan schedule. (15%)
  • In support of MDR initiative, will develop and maintain the master production schedule by combining the sales forecast, network plan, new product launches, backlog, capacity availability and lead time.

Accommodates production schedule requirements generated by regulatory requirements and / or batch characteristics (Country of Origin, Manufacturing Site, Date of Manufacture, etc.

Manage product phase-outs such that obsolete inventory is minimized. (15%)

Provide oversight of manufacturing, inventory deployment and distribution to ensure customer service. Serve as primary contact with manufacturing for planning issues. (10%)

  • Knowledge of Demand Planning or other software related to demand planning is preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of ERP / MRP, Forecast Models, Inventory Strategies, and Sales and Operations Planning.
  • Understands regulatory and business requirements in the Medical Device industry to proactively anticipate and address potential issues and conflicts in demand planning and forecasting.
  • Perform all activities in compliance with relevant GMP and Quality Systems standards and specifically with FDA Quality System Regulation and EN46000.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knows and adheres to the quality policy of the company and the quality-related procedures and instructions
  • Reports any deviation in product or process, of which he / she becomes aware, to his / her manager or the Quality department
  • Completes all necessary training in the area of Quality and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice)
  • Immediately reports any dissatisfaction or complaint which is brought to their attention from a customer or patient regarding a Smith & Nephew product ( in terms of quality, durability, reliability, safety or performance) to the complaints department
  • Complies with all health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and job hazard analyses applicable to specified job activities;

Completes all required HSE training

Requirements

  • Education : BA / BS degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business or related field. Advanced degree a plus.
  • Licenses / Certifications : APICs certifications a plus
  • Experience : 4-7+ years of relevant experience required
  • English : 100%
  • System Knowledge : SAP, JDE, Oracle or similar
